rumination was inspired by a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, though not in
the way you suspect. In an era driven by the notion that success depends on
relentless innovation, upgrading and restyling, I was wondering what might
happen to a new hire at Jack Daniel’s who suggested that the sour mash
whiskey’s distinctive flavor be modernized with some fresh, citrus accents and
that the old fashioned square bottle with its historic label should be upgraded
to a cleaner, more contemporary look. I think we can safely assume the new guy
would get the boot.
