World demand for major household appliances is projected to increase 3.7 percent annually through 2009, exceeding 390 million units, according to a new study from The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland-based industrial market research firm. Titled "World Major Household Appliances," the report also projects that demand in the Asia/Pacific region, in particular China, will continue to benefit from above average urban population growth and healthy gains in household starts.
