Consumers Seek Convenience over Green
According to a recent online survey by Whirlpool Corp., Benton Harbor, Mich., the majority of consumers (68 percent) want to live "green" but only if it is convenient to their lifestyle. The study, conducted on its behalf by Harris Interactive, found that while finances are top of mind and consumers are still on the hunt for a good bargain, many are unwilling to compromise; searching until they find the right product at the right price.

Global Appliance Demand Forecasted
World demand for major household appliances (white goods) is forecast to rise 2.8 percent annually through 2013, approaching 500 million units, according The Freedonia Group, an industry research firm in Cleveland, Ohio. Demand will be driven primarily by market penetration in developing countries. In developed regions, sales will depend primarily on steady replacement demand, new home building and the development of new features that prompt upgrading.
