Pump Design Optimization Video

Pump-video-play The classic pump design process requires costly manufacturing, assembly, and physical testing to determine the viability of a design change or to generate a pump curve. Also, physical testing typically does not provide sufficient insight as to what exactly may be impeding performance. Design engineers employing CFdesign to optimize pump performance have discovered a much more economical virtual testing environment, providing immediate and detailed insight of flow performance, resulting in shortened design cycles, lower costs, and establishing a competitive advantage. Metalized EMI Filters from LCR Electronics Increase Appliance Safety

LCR LCR Electronics' 095 series EMI filters for large white good appliances use highly cost-effective metalized film technology that delivers high reliability and fail-safe characteristics. If a failure occurs, the metallization over the film evaporates, eliminating the chance of causing a short circuit and significantly reducing the chance of fire and explosion.

Paul's European Perspective: New Philips Line - Mixing is For Men, Too

In some ways, business can be difficult in Europe. Each country has its own habits and trends, and if you want to do business there, you have to do a lot of localization. Brand development, market situation, retail partners--all are different, so you need to start over again in each country. And some countries are as small as 8 million inhabitants. That's why it took Philips Electronics so long to introduce its new Robust line of high-end kitchen appliances, now ongoing in the Netherlands, while the Robust line was first shown at the IFA fair in Berlin in 2009.

    Natural Design

I recently read a column by Gord Hotchkiss on designing technology for humans. It focuses on the Apple iPad, social networking and other new media topics-but the theme got me thinking.

"I've said before that 'technology doesn't cause our behaviors to change, it enables our behaviors to change.' The difference is subtle but profound," Hotchkiss commented. "Technology hasn't changed us, it [has] just given us more options to do the things we really want to do."

     ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Don't Underestimate Imitation

Weeks after Apple began selling its iPad, knock-off versions of the tablet PC are showing up online and real-world shops throughout piracy-prone China. Often, imitation has a negative connotation, but some would argue that what is often thought of as innovation, is actually imitation anyway.
