Sears, Hoffman Estates, Ill., is introducing its Sears Buyer Protection Program. The program, available July 6, 2009, through August 1, 2009, will cover major appliance purchases over $399 made with a Sears card if the accountholder loses his or her job. The program also covers the cost of service agreements, installation, delivery and more if those items were purchased with the appliance.

GE and Tendril Sign Strategic Agreement
Tendril, Boulder, Colo., and GE Consumer & Industrial, Louisville, Ky., have signed a joint development agreement to further enhance the communication capabilities of GE's demand response appliances. Tendril, the creator of Tendril Residential Energy Ecosysystem (TREE) and GE Consumer & Industrial will develop an integrated and interoperable system that will enhance GE's demand responsive appliances capability to communicate over metering and broadband networks.

On June 29th, the United States Supreme Court denied the petition for a writ of certiorari upholding the legality of Cablevision's remote digital video recorder (DVR), reports the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), Arlington, Va.
