FOAM BONDING TAPE is now available in a thicker gauge polyurethane material. Part of the Normount V2800 series, this closed-cell urethane foam is .090-in. thick and has Aggressive acrylic adhesive on both sides. It is designed specifically for large-gap joining that wil provide added stress-absorbing properties. The tape is used in a variety of applications in place of mechanical fasteners. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, Granville, NY Enter 194

Electrically conductive transfer adhesive is de-signed for bonding various electronic components. ARclad[R] 9032 is a 1-mil, acrylic pressure-sensitive transfer adhesive with a durable polyester film release liner. The thin tape quickly builds a strong bond and is highly conductive in the Z-axis, and provides excellent aging stability. Applications in-clude fabricating EMI shields, electrical interconnections and ground plane assemblies for cellular phones. The tape is also manufactured with plastic cores for compatibility with cleanroom requirements. Ad-hesive Research, Inc., Glen Rock, PA Enter 195

Water based metal cleaner protects employees and the environment, yet effectively cleans organic contaminants without corrosion or residues. AmberClean L12 is biodegradable and contains no volatile organic compounds, yet it easily removes grease, oil, dirt, wax, cutting fluids, lubricants, and other organic contaminants, without causing metal corrosion of leaving residues. The water-based synthetic emulsion cleaner is silicate free and is suitable for immersion or hand-wipe applications and use with ultrasonic tanks and recirculation pumps. Innova-tive Organics, Inc., Palatine, IL Enter 196

TPE grade for overmolding onto urethane allows de-signers and engineers to en-hance the strength and dimensional stability of their products. Overflex provides for the Production of higher rensile strength urethane products while using less material. The compound is available in Shore A hardness from 40 to 65, and provides full colorability as well as an appealing aesthetic look and feel. STAR Thermoplastic Elastomers, Chicago, IL Enter 197

Thermal interface provides a low resistance path between hot components and heat sinks while allowing easy removal of sinks for rework operations. Thermflow[R] T766 pads include a unique foam layer that lets heat sinks be removed without force and without leaving residue to be cleaned from component surface. The material consists of a tacky, electrically nonconductive phase-change film on one side of a highly conformable metal foil. The film attaches securely onto heat sinks or spreaders and is protected by the foil layer during assembly. This construction allows the pad to conform to mounting surfaces on thermal modules in laptop computers, on microprocessors in PCs, workstations and servers, and on BGA packages. Because no protective liners are required, asembly is simplified. Chomerics, Woburn, MA Enter 198

Polyester film for membrane switches provides a gloss/micro-matte finish for applications such as kitchen appliance control panels with see-through windows, allowing for easier embossing and improved ink adhesion. Bayfol[R] CR is able to overcome problems that have affected PET-only membrane switch overlays, such as faceplate craking. The material is formulated using technology to create a PC/PET blend that offers engineers the dimensional stability of polycarbonate resin and the excellent chemical resistance of PET film. The Bayfol CR film is available in gauges of 0.005- or 0.007-in. and rolls of up to 36.5-in. in width. Bayer Corp., Plastics Division, Pittsburgh, PA Enter 199

TPE compounds for appliance wire are rated for continuous service at 125¿C and provide chemical resistance, low-temperature flexibility, and a range of mechanical and flame properties. Elexar[R] 8614 and 8623 enable users to meet recent European demands for elimination of bromide compounds. While serving as nonplasticized alternatives to PVC in appliance wire, the TPE compounds provide greater chemical resistance and low-temperature flexibility than thermoplastic olefin (TPO) elastomers anc cost less than urethane- and polyester-based TPEs. The products are also UL-listed for "60¿C Oil Resistance" applications. Teknor Apex, Pawtucket, RI Enter 200 acoustical foams are engineered to deflect radiant heat in noise control applications with aluminum polyester facings, which also protect the foam from soil and fluids. Tufcote[R] RM and SM are designed for use with enclosures for motor-driven equipment, such as pumps and compressors. The foams are available in rolls, sheets or as custom die-cut parts, with or without peel-and-stick adhesives, and in thicknesses ranging from _-in. to 2-in. E-A-R Specialty Composites, Indianapolis, IN
