Dudek and Bock Uses Spring Wire to Make Wire Forms Perform

For over 50 years, appliance manufacturers have relied on our engineers to design wire forms made of spring wire. These include ice maker feeler arms that move up and down without losing shape, despite freezing temperatures, and suspension springs for dishwasher motors that support the motor, yet move with the motor vibration without taking a set. These specialty wire forms require an intense level of engineering expertise to produce and are hard working parts. Of course, Dudek & Bock also uses spring wire to make millions of springs every year for the appliance industry. Call Raquel at 773/379-4100, ext. 134 to discover how spring wire forms can work for you.

EPSI's Patented WishboneT Masking Products Remove Without Scratching

EPSI's WishboneT masking discs feature a center pull-tab design that allows users to easily find and remove discs obscured by painting or powder coating. The Wishbone system also prevents the need for costly rework of coated surfaces marred during disc removal. The patented design creates a pop-up center tab which is easier to apply than standard discs, and which remains visible and easy to grasp, even after thick paint or coating applications.

Standard masking discs frequently become "lost" to sight after the coating process. Wishbone tabs are easily seen, eliminating the need for scraping to locate coated-over masks, which may scratch the surrounding finish. Pulling the tab removes the mask easily and completely without touching the coated surface. No adhesive residue is left behind, and costly rework is eliminated.

Wishbone discs cannot become stuck in recesses, so there is no time-consuming digging and scraping to pry stuck masks out of tight holes. They are also easy to apply and remove from inside and outside corners.

The Wishbone system is available in standard discs, and in custom shapes of almost any configuration or size. Wishbone designs come in various adhesives and backing materials, including green polyester tape, crepe paper tape, and polymide (KaptonT), for all temperature ranges, up to 600░F (315░C).

Desoutter SD Screwdrivers Provide Key to Greater Productivity

With demand for increased efficiency, but lower unit manufacturing cost, Desoutter has developed its new range of ergonomic SD Screwdrivers and accessories. The SD tools are compact with similar size tools producing only half the torque, making the tool easier to manuever.

A new motor design has tools running for typically greater than 3 million cycles before a routine service. Improvements in the porting have resulted in an increase in power and speed of 30-140% in most applications for a given torque.

Tests to ISO5393 show that the SD shut off tools can give torque repeatability better than ±4%, the clutch adjustment being tamperproof to prevent adjustment after calibration.

The SD screwdriver range is the leader in its field.

Glass Components - HEAT BARRIER IIT

HEAT-BARRIER IIT is a high-performance, heat-reflective glass for oven doors and other high-heat appliance applications that provides safety, energy conservation, and cost-effective value. HBIIT meets IEC 60335-2-6 and EN 50304. Treated on both sides, it withstands temperatures up to 480oC (950oF). HBIIT is a specially coated soda lime or borosilicate glass that reduces heat transfer during the regular and pyrolytic oven cycles, while allowing vision through the oven door without color distortion. The ability to substantially reduce transfer of infrared heat through the oven door while resisting the deposition of cooking vapors and creosote build-up, distinguishes HBIIT from more costly alternatives.

HEAT BARRIER IIT is produced by Marsco Manufacturing LLC, an ISO 9002 company that has been an appliance industry supplier for over 50 years with 25 years of dedicated focus on heat reflection for oven doors. C&K Announces Five New DIP Switch Product Families

C&K, a member of the ITT Industries, Cannon family of companies introduces five new DIP switch product families. C&K is offering equipment designers real product innovation at competitive prices across a wide span of applications. The new products are designed to complement or replace existing products, delivering many benefits to the user. Additions to the range include half pitch devices, low profile units, side-actuated devices, SIP styles, and 10mm coded rotary switches.

TDA series devices take up half the PCB space of other older style DIPs, and a lower profile versus other half pitch products. Offered as SPST devices in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 positions, they have a contact rating of 24Vdc, 25mA (switching) or 50Vdc, 10mA (steady state). And a mechanical and electrical life of 1,000 cycles,

The SDA switches feature a high pressure gas tight contact system which does not require tape sealing, eliminating the need to remove costly top tape after solder processing. The SDA is available in both through-hole and surface mount packages.

The new BPA Series of side actuated DIP switches are available in both through hole and surface mount versions. BPA switches use the same high pressure contact system as the SDA family, and therefore do not require tape sealing. Devices are available in 2-10 positions (except 3 position), have a contact rating of 100mA maximum at 5Vdc or 25mA maximum at 24Vdc, and have a minimum mechanical and electrical life of 1,000 cycles at 5Vdc.

Complementing its CD Series of 8mm diameter rotary coded devices, C&K has introduced a 10mm version (CRD) for customers who prefer the larger size with easier to read numbers.

C&K's SP series is a unique line of single-in-line packaged component. They use less than half the PCB space of equivalent DIPs and are available in vertical or right angled, through-hole versions, in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 positions.

All these new devices are included in a new 20-page Dip Design Guide visible at www.ckcorp.com/dip/dipad. For more information and free samples, contact: Sales Department, C&K Components, Inc., 57 Stanley Avenue, Watertown, MA 02472. Tel: (800) 635-5936; (617) 926-6400 - Fax: (617) 926-6846.

Tog-L-LocR Sheet Metal Joining System

BTM's patented no-weld no-rivet Tog-L-LocR sheet metal joining system easily joins plain, coated or dissimilar metals without fasteners. Tog-L-LocR joins sheet metals by drawing and forming a circular section which is expanded to a larger diameter beneath the bottom sheet. This produces a rivet like button which can be non-destructively checked with a simple gage. No sparks, soot or fumes are produced, and protective coatings are not burned or pierced.

Tog-L-LocR joints are strong, fatigue resistant and leakproof. Because it is a mechanical process, Tog-L-LocR joints are highly consistent in production.

There are no "cold" welds or jammed feeders to contend with, and tool life is exceptional; often exceeding 300,000 joints from a single set of tools.

Flanged Cap Connectors Twist-Mount into Panels

AMP flanged cap housings with a twist lock design are ideal for household appliance applications. The flange permits the connector housing to be twisted 90 degrees to complete installation within a panel cutout. This simplifies assembly and reduces part count. The flange design prevents insulation foam used inside the equipment from seeping through the panel cutout, and wire seals at the back of the housing afford similar protection for the connector contacts. The housings, in 6-, 9- and 12-position sizes accept Universal MATE-N-LOK contacts, and mate with Universal MATE-N-LOK plug housings.

Q6000 Air Leak Tester Breaks the Mold

ITI Qualitek of Billerica, MA is pleased to announce the launch of the Model Q6000 Air Leak Tester. The all new Q6000 leak tester from ITI Qualitek departs from the usual 19-in. rack format adopted for leak testers. Radical new styling and feature rich technology puts the Q6000 in a class of its own.

Users of the new leak tester will be able to make full use of multi-channel synchronous and asynchronous testing. The benefit of the latter being that operators do not have to wait for one another to load and connect all the test pieces before the leak test can be started. Up to four intelligent detector modules can be connected to the control unit for remote programming with up to 16 programs each. Each of the gas boxes functions independently of the others irrespective of their power or operational status. Program editing or removal can only be carried out with the password protected control unit.

The excellent networking capacity of the Q6000 enables installation of the control unit, which can be wall mounted, to be up to 100 ft. from the detector modules. Users will also appreciate the easy read graphical display screen which shows the test status and pressure profiles for each leak test. Local test status and results are displayed on the individual detector modules in sight of the operator.

The specially designed detector modules feature stainless steel IP54 rated enclosures, a front mounted pressure regulator and large, bright pass/reject indicators. First to be produced is the differential pressure decay versions which are available in seven pressure ranges. Gauge decay, mass flow and laminar flow versions will be available soon. The versatility of the system permits the connection and control of mixtures of detector modules simultaneously. ITI Qualitek is already working on the next generation of the Q6000, which will be able to control testing with many more detector modules.

New Variable Speed Motor

A.O. Smith Electric Products Company continues to set "a new standard in home comfort" with the introduction of its Electronic Frequency Modulation (EFM)T motor technology.

The EFM motor could be called an inverter with style, as it is a proven technology that uses an AC induction motor with an integrated electronics package.

The electronics modulate the frequency and voltage to provide speed variation based on input from the thermostat and a built-in profile of the unit's performance characteristics.

The EFM motor's electronics monitor system conditions and adjusts automatically to deliver the specified volume of air a heating or cooling system is designed to use. The motor's computer chip "senses" when conditions change-such as when registers are opened or closed-and adjusts the air volume.

The EFM electronically controlled motor also operates more quietly than a conventional, induction unit. The times you most notice equipment noise are during start-up. This unit will 'ramp up' or ramp down' gradually, minimizing a lot of the noise associated with air-moving equipment.
